Altrusa Activities

World Literacy Day

Altrusa International maintains a focus on literacy each year as an annual service project.  In response, Altrusa of Marianna funds an annual Literacy Scholarship to Chipola College.  In addition, each year we participate in a special activity in September in an effort to increase literacy in our local community.  Watch here for news of the activity for 2018.

For Altrusa's Make A Difference Day the members collected toiletries for the residents at  the Nursing Pavilion and they collected money to donate to the Backpack for Kids Program for Jackson County. This program helps children who do not have enough to eat when they are out of school.  Aundrea Sellers, club member, presents items to the nursing staff at the Nursing Pavilion.

Each year Altrusa provides back packs with school supplies to selected students at the elementary schools.  Pictured left to right: Golson Principal Jennifer Hawthorne, Altrusa member Kelly Connolly, Helper Jack Connolly, Helper Sean Connolly, Jr. and Altrusa  Community Service Chairman Aundrea Sellers.
