Altrusa Activities

World Literacy Day

Altrusa International maintains a focus on literacy each year as an annual service project.  In response, Altrusa of Marianna funds an annual Literacy Scholarship to Chipola College.  In addition, each year we participate in a special activity in September in an effort to increase literacy in our local community.  Watch here for news of the activity for 2018.

sAltrusa Club donates to local Elementary Schools
Each year Altrusa International of Marianna donates several filled backpacks to the elementary schools in the area to be delivered by school administration to selected students.  This year, Jackson County school board received a grant to provide school supplies for all students in the county school system.  As a response to the shift in area needs, this year Altrusa donated money to help with purchasing required shirts for several students in each grade level.

The photo on the left shows members donating to Golson Elementary School.  Left to right are Mary Anne Harris, Regina Hargis-Williams, Kay Tyler, Golson Elementary Assistant Principal Edna Reed, Altrusa President Jay James, and Jennifer Reisenbucechler.

In the photo on the right, Altrusa members make a donation to Riverside Elementary.  Shown in the front row are Riverside Assistant Principal Sueann Tharp, Kay Tyler, Altrusa President Jay James, Jennifer Reisenbucechler, and Kathy Sloan.  In the back row are Cheryl Stubbs, Mary Anne Harris, and Regina Hargis-Williams.
